LoopUp Tenant Connect - Client App Registration Setup Guide

A detailed guide to connect your Tenant for use with the LoopUp Cloud Telephony Admin Portal utilising a Client App Registration created in Entra ID.

Why Connect Your Tenant?

The connection between LoopUp and your Microsoft tenant enables integrated capabilities to manage your cloud telephony, such as:

  • Dynamic number management, including viewing which numbers are allocated to aid in capacity planning
  • Easy self-service telephony provisioning for your users, including auto-selecting an available number
  • Allow your staff to easily add service for users, without needing to be a Teams administrator
  • Accurate billing related to your enabled users

 

How to set up Microsoft Tenant Connect?

Step 1: Sign in to the LoopUp One Portal

  • Sign in to the LoopUp One Portal: https://one.loopup.com
  • Navigate to Teams Services > Tenant Connection
  • Click “Setup Tenant Connection”

 

Step 2: Choose Connection Type

  • Select “Manually create Client Application Registration in your tenant (Advanced)”
  • Click "Next Step"

 

Step 3: Entra ID App Registration

  • Click “Next Step” so that you are located at the “Enter Client Application details” step.
  • Navigate to your Entra ID portal
  • Select “App registrations” on the left-hand sidebar
  • Click “New registration”
  • Enter the following name: LoopUp Tenant Connect (App Registration)
  • Select “Accounts in this organizational directory only (LoopUp Limited only - Single tenant)”
  • Ignore Redirect URI
  • Click “Register”

 

Step 4: App Registration Credentials

To be able to make a connection to your Entra ID tenant we require the Client ID and Client Secret from the app registration.

  • Copy the “Application (client) ID” and paste into the LoopUp One Portal - “Client ID” text box
  • Navigate to “Certificates & secrets” on the left-hand sidebar
  • Click “New client secret”
  • Add a description and select your preferred secret expiry duration
  • Copy the “Value” and paste into the LoopUp One Portal - “Client Secret” text box

 

Step 5: Service Principal Role Assignment

For LoopUp One to be able to interact with your Teams environment, the assignment of the “Teams Communications Administrator” role is required.

  • Navigate to “Roles & admins” on the left-hand sidebar
  • Search for “Teams Communications Administrator”
  • Click “Add assignments”
  • Search for the “LoopUp Tenant Connect (App Registration)” service principal
  • Click "Add"

 

Step 6: Verify Configuration

  • Navigate back to LoopUp One
  • Click “Verify Setup”
  • Tenant Connect
  • Enterprise App
  • App Registration
